Assorted Madness

* Next week, the much-anticipated (are you anticipating?!) Rawking Refuses To Stop! Top 100 Albums of the Decade arrives over five days of blurbs, MP3s and glory.
* If you’re not playing Monopoly City Streets, it’s so awesome, despite an abundance of cheating/hacking. Most major metro areas already sold out, but try yr old hometowns. Update: The game is apparently rebooting next week. Bummed!
* Ryan Adams is releasing a new digital single on his new label (!) today.
* Jens Lekman isn’t just in the Whip It trailer — according to the man himself, he licensed a number of songs for it (and looks adorable above hugging director/star Drew Barrymore).
Sondre Lerche Promises To “Bring The Goods” To The Troubadour
Sondre Lerche’s new album, Heartbeat Radio, might be the Norwegian songwriter’s best collection yet — so you won’t want to miss his return to his (and my) favorite Los Angeles haunt, the Troubadour, on Sept. 24. (The album’s due Sept. 8.) As with his last few shows there, it’ll be solo electric.
“Band is resting and having more babies,” Sondre told me on Twitter (I know!) just minutes ago. “I promise to bring the goods alone!” Let’s hold him to it. More tour dates on the ongoing calendar.
While We’re In A Twitter-y Mood
Who’d be interested in doing a weekly (or whenever) listening party via live-blog/Twitter? Everybody buys (or, OK, borrows) a new album or a forgotten oldie, we all pop it on and discuss the jams in real-time? Could be epic.
This Weekend In LA: Julie Doiron, Metric & More
I think I’m going to start doing this every week, folks — a look at this weekend’s recommended shows and a jump on gigs on the following Monday through Wednesday. Would this be helpful? As with all things Rawkblog, the gigs in question are professional recommendations only and not a laundry list.
Here’s what we’ve got, after the jump — your best bets look to be Julie Doiron tonight (I’ve posted on her poignant latest record) and a solid triple bill headlined by the can’t-miss Constantines (pictured; photo by David Greenwald). Read the rest of this entry »
Iron & Wine releasing amazing rarities comp: Lots of these tracks are out there in some form or another, and having heard most of them as an obsessive I&W archivist, Around the Well (5/19, Sub Pop) will be pretty incredible. [Billboard]
