Stream "Merriweather Post Pavillion"

Hear Merriweather Post Pavillion in full on Domino Records’ Australian MySpace. Perhaps it’s to be expected, but the post-Person Pitch Animal Collective backlash has already begun — I saw one dude on Facebook today call MPP “B.O.R.I.N.G.” As I’ve already said, it’s quite the opposite, but listen and make yr own decisions.

When blown up, that album cover is so trippy. Should be called It Still Moves!

So, in the post 9.6 world, does admitting to liking AnCo automatically make one “entry level”?

What a sorry and strange state of affairs.

MPP is already inching closer and closer to Feels, the album which, for now, remains my personal favorite and the one I thought they would never be able to top.

That album art makes me nauseous.

@Matt — apparently, yeah, but that was probably true after Person Pitch. Good thing we’re too old to care about impressing teenagers in skinny jeans with our musical taste, right?

Feels is definitely my least favorite of their last four, for whatever reason.

dude, i listened to mpp while going for my almost daily 6-mile jog tonight, and i gotta admit, i wasn’t feeling it. maybe my receding hairline groups me in with the antiquated music critics that are killing the album in their columns?

p.s. this is the don, not silverman

Give it a couple more spins, on a couch, in the dark.

IGN, a video game website, gave this a 6.5 out of 10. They are also they same people that gave MGMT a 10 out of 10 for Oracular Spectacular. This is why sites like pitchfork don’t review anything but music, stick to what you know and IGN knows dick about music. It’s ok not to “get” this album but it isn’t ok to love MGMT.
