    The problem with contemporary “indie rock”, as defined by Pitchfork’s aesthetic, is that it is neither.

    Today’s indie bands need less Paul Simon, Orange Juice, and JAMC… and more Pavement, Archers of Loaf, and early REM.

    The Henry Clay People made the best indie rock record of the year.
